Goelanda Community High School, A Legacy of Resilience and Educational Excellence in Liberia
Jeredine
Greene Christian Daycare and Regular School System was established in 2019 by
Mr. Harrison T. Shanga and Madam Jeredine B. Greene in the Millionaire Quarter Community,
Gbarnga City, Bong County, Liberia. The institution was founded with the motive
of creating an affordable and quality educational environment for growing
children within the community.
Since its
establishment, the school has become one of the most outstanding, systematic,
and organized learning institutions in the area. It is widely recognized for
its excellence in spelling, recitation, reading skills, and other academic
activities that continue to shape the lives of young learners.
Over the
years, the school has successfully graduated six classes, and this year marks
the graduation of its seventh class. The institution has consistently
demonstrated academic excellence through participation in several recognized
competitions and national assessments.
One of the
school’s remarkable achievements is its participation in “The Friend of St.
Martin Spelling Bee Competition” for three consecutive years. During the first
year, the school won first, second, and third places. In the second year, the
school again secured first, second, and third places. In the third year, the
school proudly achieved first, second, and fourth places.
Over the years, the school has successfully graduated six classes, and this year marks the graduation of its seventh class. The institution has consistently demonstrated academic excellence through participation in several recognized competitions and national assessments.

In addition,
the school has participated in the Liberia National Assessment Test for Grade 3
and The Liberia Public School Certificate Examination for Grade 6 levels, with
all candidates successfully passing throughout the years of participation.
Jeredine
Greene Christian Daycare and Regular School System has also produced capable
Grade 6 graduates who have gone on to excel in various junior and senior high
schools within Bong County and other parts of Liberia, earning promotions and
distinguished honors such as dux awards.
In joy, we
shared the good news that the JGCDRSS currently has two campuses, with the
newest campus situated at the Phebe airstrike community, suakoko school
district, bong county. This branch has successfully operated for the past three
years, leaving tangible marks. With this clear vision, the school hope of
creating additional breaches in county and the country at large.
Today, the
school continues to stand as a center of academic excellence, discipline, and
moral training, committed to nurturing future leaders and providing quality
education for children in the community and beyond.

Before it was destroyed by rampaging armed factions, Dolokelen Gboveh High School was the most prestigious government-run school in Liberia's Bong County. Now, with the help of the UN refugee agency and its partners, the school has risen from the ashes and its students are once again aiming for a better future.
2005
When it reopened in 2001, Mbaku Kids Zone once again became a symbol of resilience, hope, and determination for the people of Nimba County. Despite the scars of war, it resumed its mission of educating future generations, reinforcing the belief that education is central to rebuilding both individuals and society after conflict.

The senior class. Yes, there were only five students in the class! Mamadee Wattee, standing on the right owthe Peace Corps Volunteer with a brown shirt and tie, was the student body president. He is also featured in my blog about the Lightning Man. Later he would move to the US and become an elementary school principal.
